Discovering the old, I mean, very old places and spaces in Ireland is to be expected. Yet, all of the research and preparation getting to these remarkable spots will not prepare you for the actual experience. To feel, to see, to soak it in and to be open to it, is THE other critical part to the visit. I never expected to feel the outpouring of love and beauty from a 557 year old stone building (est 1448), but on February 10th I did. The way the light bounces from the stone, the way the cool breeze washes the corners, the peaceful yew cascading through the center, the legacy of kindness, the wonder. This place is astonishing. It felt out-of-body and remarkably peaceful.
I will always remember the feeling of the center ceiling cathedral. The narrow windows, the remarkable detail on the ceiling, and how the quiet breeze whispered a peace to me unlike something I have ever felt. It was as if walking into room filled with a sweet smell in your favorite nostalgic place, the place that happiness and joy washes over you, but in this case, there was no smell, and I had never been there before.
This may not make sense, but again, you have to feel it, it brought me to tears. It was astonishing.
