More About the Artist -
Jamie Rae

Jamie Miller Painter by Tracy Walsh Photo

Growing up along the lake shores and big tall trees of Northern Minnesota, Jamie Rae has always had a deep love for the outdoors.  Fast forward to the present day, she adores those same explorations through the eyes of her two children.  Jamie says -

"To explore with them [Liv and Carter] is like getting to live all over again." â€‹

After the loss of both of her parents, she took time to pause, and move away from her corporate career, into the life of creativity she always dreamt of.  A street filled with colors, life, growth and friendship, a place in which she could call Lime Street Creative + Co her new home.

"It's a place where the door to my dreams and aspirations is always open.  A place where PTO  and rest are always granted.  A place where my kids, husband [Ben], and friends can dream along side of me.  It is a place where the door to 'yes' is always open."

Jamie Rae has sculpted her life away from the computer screen and onto the canvas with acrylic paints or on cotton paper with watercolors.  One of her favorites parts of the creative process is to take time to move slowly, with mindfulness and great curiosity of the subject.

"I never thought taking so much time examining the luster of a petal, or the angle of the shadows would give me such great happiness, but it absolutely does.  And then, when I am able to translate it onto a canvas, when I see someone's face light up with the result...elation!"

Beyond the canvas, Jamie Rae is also a Master Gardener Volunteer with the University of Minnesota Extension.  She has been featured in Northern Gardener Magazine for her "Giving Garden Cart" an act of love for her neighbors, where she wheels the cart out onto the street sharing the bounty of the gardens in forms of flower bouquets and baskets of veggies.

"I have learned the garden and the act of gardening is my humbling place of peace.  Every season is different, every flower is beautiful, every day is new day to learn more and share more."

Jam [as some lovingly refer to her as] is always outside with camera in tow "attempting to capture" all of the immersive inspiration, in hopes of revisiting on down the road for just the right project.  In addition to gardening and painting, Jamie Rae is also busy using upcycled wood materials. A big part of her passion is to utilize materials otherwise bound for the landfill.  Checkout the Woodworking page for more details!

When Jamie is not in her home studio slapping on paint or running the chop saw, she is  volunteering at a local Gallery, taking more art classes to expand her craft, prepping for art fairs, planting seeds, participating in local Master Gardener Volunteer opportunities, and spending time with her family, dogs and friends!

She would love to hear from you!
